What’s included in the fee?
Next there’s a comprehensive eye exam and corneal mapping which costs $295. You’ll pay this at your consultation and if you choose to proceed with surgery, this amount is deducted from your surgical fee.
At Southern Eye Specialists, our pricing is fully inclusive. Your post-operative eye drops, follow-up care, and all appointments for up to 12 months are covered. These can be done at our clinic or, if you’re outside Christchurch, with your local optometrist.
Laser eye surgery is permanent, but a small number of patients may need retreatment. If this happens, we’ll cover the cost for up to 12 months after your surgery. In most cases, the need for retreatment becomes clear within the first 3–6 months.

*12 months interest-free is available on Long Term Finance (LTF) for in-clinic transactions only. Offer valid only for laser eye surgery (SMILE pro, LASIK, or PRK). Minimum spend $3000. Lending criteria, $50 annual Account Fee, fees, Ts&Cs apply. $55 Establishment Fee applies to your first Long Term Finance (LTF) transaction, $35 Advance Fee applies to subsequent LTF transactions. Minimum payments of 3% of the monthly closing balance or $10 (whichever is greater) are required throughout the interest free period. Paying only the minimum monthly payments will not fully repay the loan before the end of the interest free period.
